Stay longer, ski further

From your off-piste ski weekend to the Tarentaise Safari

When the snow holds, a weekend flies by. Two days, a week, a thread of valleys from one side of the Tarentaise to the other: our off-piste ski trips from Val d'Isère are cut to the time you have and to the snow as it falls. And when the wider world calls, we take you further afield.

Give it a few days, and your skiing takes on another scale

A day of off-piste skiing is something you savour; a trip is something you live in. A snowpack is read over several mornings, you track a refreeze, you wait for the right window, you keep a north face up your sleeve for the day it gives its best snow. Length is what buys that patience. Our off-piste ski weekends leave from Val d'Isère and range across the Espace Killy and the neighbouring valleys: two or three days set to each morning's avalanche bulletin, the snow leading and us following. Our daily rates are on the Val d'Isère ski school prices page, and accommodation in the village is listed on the Val d'Isère tourist office website.

If you're keen to progress, the freeride week opens the field for you. Up on the lifts, a few metres on skins when you need to reach a ridge off to the side, and descents that string together from one day to the next, the movement settles, the read of the slope sharpens, and the pleasure grows by the day. Over the week you go from strong piste skier to powder skier, at ease anywhere. If skins are new to you, our ski touring courses start with the basics.

Ski the Tarentaise Safari, valley to valley

When your hunger for terrain builds, we cut loose from the resort together. The Tarentaise Safari links several ski areas over several days, Sainte-Foy, La Rosière and the Italian side, Bonneval-sur-Arc deep in the Haute-Maurienne, to go and find the snow wherever it has fallen. A roaming trip à la carte, following the weather from day to day. The detail of the sectors, the meeting points and the run of the day are on our page for off-piste day trips in the Tarentaise.

Beyond the Tarentaise, ski the wider world with us

There comes a winter when you've done the round of your own valley and the pull moves elsewhere: to a Japanese birch forest buried under six metres of snow, to a Lofoten fjord where you ski down to the sea, to a stretch of Greenland coast you reach under sail. PowderWeGo was born of that pull. Our parent company runs ski trips the world over, from the first snow of Hokkaido in Japan to the seaside lines of the Lofoten Islands, by way of Greenland and Iceland. You travel with the same team and the same standards of safety, every trip made to measure, wherever on the planet you choose to ski. It's all on powderwego.com.

FAQ

How many days for an off-piste weekend?

Two to three days, usually Friday to Sunday. We adapt to your group's level and, above all, to the snow: three good outings, chosen day by day, make the finest weekend.

Do you already need to ski off-piste for a freeride week?

No. The week suits anyone who skis cleanly on a red run and wants to head beyond the marked pistes. You progress from one day to the next, and your instructor pitches each day at your real level.

Is the Tarentaise Safari a hut-to-hut tour?

It's a roaming trip from ski area to ski area, most often with a return to Val d'Isère each evening. The detail of the sectors is on our page for day trips in the Tarentaise.

What about skiing in Japan or the Lofoten?

Those trips are run by our parent company: head over to powderwego.com, where each destination has its own page, dates and prices.
