Win back the afternoon the road usually takes

If you've ever driven up to Val d'Isère, you know the last stretch. You land in Geneva early in the afternoon, fresh, and two and a half hours later you're still climbing the Tarentaise, headlights on, watching for the queue of cars fitting chains at Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Your whole arrival day goes on it. A helicopter transfer from Geneva to Val d'Isère hands that stretch back to you.

From Geneva, allow thirty-five to forty minutes in the air. The tarmac falls away, Lake Geneva slides past on the left, then comes the Beaufortain, the upper valley closing in, and the aircraft sets down a short walk from the resort. You open the chalet door with the afternoon still ahead of you, where the road would have delivered you in time for dinner. When you're counting your hours, with a long-haul flight behind you and three days' skiing ahead, the arithmetic is simple: a private flight to Val d'Isère gives you back half a day at each end of your stay.

What you see beneath the skids does the rest. From the air, you discover the Alps in a different light altogether. The high glaciers, the ridge of the Mont Pourri, bowls still untracked at midday: your flight in becomes the first picture of the trip, and often the one you'll describe first when you get home.

From the runway to your door, everything arranged for you

We put together the whole transfer: the slot and an aircraft sized to your group and your luggage, the timing against your scheduled flight or your private jet, the landing site on the Val d'Isère side, then the vehicle that takes you to your chalet or hotel. You step out of the cabin, someone carries the ski bags, the car pulls away. We've settled everything else beforehand.

That's also why we quote each transfer individually: the price depends on the origin, the number of passengers, the volume of skis and luggage, the season and the slot. The "from" figures further down are real and public, and give you the order of magnitude. Your firm quote arrives within twenty-four hours, and the figure on landing is the figure quoted. For your days on the snow, see our Val d'Isère ski school prices.

See the range from above, for the length of a flight

A helicopter can also take you up simply for the view: the Alps from above, with the flight itself as the outing. A first helicopter flight or a scenic flight around Val d'Isère, over the glaciers and the great summits of the Tarentaise, can be arranged on request, for a couple, a family or a small group. Each flight is drawn to order: the length, the loop and the aircraft are set by what you'd like to see and by the day's light. Tell us what you have in mind, and we'll price it.

Choose your route: flight times and indicative prices

These are "from" prices for a one-way private flight. The final figure depends on the aircraft, the number of passengers, luggage and skis, landing fees, the season and the slot. A firm quote reaches you within 24 hours.

Your transfer, from the first call to touchdown

  • The brief, you tell us your arrival airport, your flight's landing time, the number of passengers, the volume of skis and luggage, and your accommodation address in Val d'Isère.
  • The quote, we come back within twenty-four hours with a firm price, the right aircraft and a proposed slot. The booking stands once you confirm.
  • The timing, we set the helicopter flight against your scheduled flight or your jet, with a margin for connection delays.
  • On the day, welcome on arrival, boarding, flight, touchdown on the Val d'Isère side, then a vehicle to your door. Your skis and luggage travel with you or follow, depending on the set-up chosen.
  • The return, the same in reverse, timed to your departure flight, with the margin it needs.

Room on board for your skis, luggage and group

A transfer helicopter usually takes four to five passengers, but it all depends on the weight on board. Skis, ski bags, luggage for the stay: every kilo counts in the mountains, and the number of usable seats drops as the load grows. That's why we ask, from the brief onwards, exactly what you're bringing (number of people, pairs of skis, hold luggage), so we can size the aircraft correctly and boarding runs smoothly. A second rotation or a larger helicopter is easy to plan when we know in advance.

Weather: your plan B, always ready

A mountain flight depends on the weather. Wind, low cloud, poor visibility at the landing site: the pilot alone decides, and that decision comes first, as the safety rule requires. Flight times are therefore always subject to the weather, and what we guarantee is a plan B prepared in advance: moving the slot into the favourable window, postponing, or switching to a private road transfer to the resort. A solution is always ready on the tarmac, and only a journey actually flown is billed at the flight rate.

Fly on from Val d'Isère: shuttles, resort hops and days across the border

Once you're here, the heli shortens distances too. A helicopter shuttle to an Italian heliski base spares you the long valley road when time is short; at Bonneval-sur-Arc, the heli collects the group at the bottom of the reverse heliski descent and flies everyone back to Val d'Isère. These hops are set up with the same care and priced per flight. See our heliski days and stays from Val d'Isère.

A word from the founder

We have worked in these mountains since 2001, and we know every way into Val d'Isère: the road at night, the train to Bourg, the arrival by air. When time is precious, we know what half a day handed back is worth to you. We put every transfer together ourselves, aircraft and slot chosen for your group, and we time every flight to the day's weather.

FAQ

How much is a helicopter transfer from Geneva to Val d'Isère?

From around €2,700 for a private flight of thirty-five to forty minutes, an indicative public price, one way. The firm figure depends on the aircraft, the number of passengers, the volume of skis and luggage and the slot. We send you a precise quote within twenty-four hours.

Which airports do you arrange transfers to Val d'Isère from?

Mainly Geneva, Chambéry, Grenoble, Lyon-Bron and Turin. We also price on request from Annecy, Milan, Nice or Paris-Le Bourget, as well as resort-to-resort hops. Tell us your arrival airport, and we'll tell you the flight time and the price.

How much time do you save compared with the road?

The flight takes twenty-five to fifty minutes depending on the origin, where the road needs two and a half to four hours from the same airports. In practice the helicopter gives you back half a day on arrival and another on departure.

Is the flight guaranteed at the planned time?

No. The pilot alone judges the conditions: wind, cloud base, visibility at the landing site. We always prepare a plan B: moving into the favourable window, postponing, or a private road transfer. Only a journey actually flown is billed at the flight rate.

How many passengers and skis can you take?

Usually four to five passengers, but the number of usable seats depends on the weight on board: skis, ski bags, luggage. We ask for the detail at the quote stage to size the aircraft correctly, and plan a larger helicopter or a second rotation if needed.

Do you also arrange scenic flights?

Yes: a first helicopter flight or a scenic flight around Val d'Isère, on request. We set the length and the route by what you'd like to see and by the day's light, each one drawn to order. Tell us what you have in mind.

Can you use the helicopter once you're in resort?

Yes: a shuttle to an Italian heliski base or a pick-up at the bottom of a descent. These hops are priced one by one, on the same logic as airport transfers.
