Start from wherever you are
Your ski lessons in Val d'Isère begin the same way, whether it's your child's first day on skis or your own first morning back after ten years away: with someone who watches what you do with your skis and knows what to refine first. That is the heart of the craft. If you're a beginner, you learn the weight of a ski, a clean sideslip, the confidence to let a little speed run. Intermediates usually come to shed a habit years in the making, that torso creeping back the moment the slope steepens. And if you already ski well, you want to hold a long red run top to bottom, legs loose even on the firmer patches.
We take every level, from the complete beginner to the advanced skier, children and adults alike. In a private ski lesson the day moves at your pace, or your family's. Already at ease on a red? Private ski tuition in Val d'Isère is built for you. In a small group you share the day with skiers of a like standard, and your instructor's attention stays close at hand. The Espace Killy, Val d'Isère and Tignes together, with its 300 km of pistes, offers fresh terrain for every stage of your progress: the gentle blues off Bellevarde to bed in a movement, the steady reds of Solaise to string turns together, steeper ground when you ask for it. Our Val d'Isère ski map shows every one of those runs; for the Tignes side, see our ski school in Tignes.

Learn the piste the way you'll one day ski off-piste
You learn with a ski school in Val d'Isère rooted in the off-piste, and it shows in how we teach the piste. Even on a groomed red, your instructor passes on how to read the snow: firm at first light, softer by lunch, crusty wherever the chairlift casts its shadow. He corrects an edge, yes, but he also tells you why that same edge will serve you the day you set your skis into thirty centimetres of fresh. The piste is a training ground in its own right, and nowhere on the mountain gives you clearer feedback.
There comes a day when your red run flows on clean edges, your eyes set far ahead. That day, your first off-piste turns are close. We point it out when we see it, and show you the first line once you feel ready. Plenty of our powder regulars took their first steps with us on the piste, a few winters back. If the idea already appeals, the rest of the story is on off-piste skiing in Val d'Isère. For the full range of formats and rates, see our prices; to pin down a date, use the contact form.
Your lessons are led by a qualified ski instructor who specialises in off-piste. We have been teaching in Val d'Isère since 2001.
FAQ
What level do these lessons suit?
Every level is welcome. We start a child or an adult who has never clipped in, rebuild the confidence of someone returning after years away, and move an advanced skier up a rung so they can hold their long reds. Tell us your level and we'll shape the day around it.
Private or small group — what's the difference?
A private lesson runs at one skier's or one family's pace. A small group, up to six of a like standard, shares the day and the rate. Either way, the instructor's attention is yours.
Will piste lessons prepare me for off-piste?
Yes, and that is rather the point. We are a specialist off-piste school: once a red run flows clean, we can take you off-piste, and many of our powder regulars began exactly this way. The next step is on our page about off-piste skiing in Val d'Isère.
Do lessons include skis and a lift pass?
No. The rate covers the instruction. Lift passes and ski hire are yours to arrange; we can point you to a shop if needed. The detail sits on our prices page.
What does a day's lesson cost?
€600 a day for one to four skiers, €700 for five or six, a little more over school holidays. Send us your dates and level through the contact form and we reply within 24 hours.
