How our prices work
Our Val d'Isère ski school prices are the same for everyone, with a single change for the school holidays, when the resort fills. The price is by the day and for the whole group, so two of you or four pay the same figure. The safety kit comes with every outing: your day of off-piste skiing begins with the avalanche airbag pack, transceiver, shovel and probe.
Your daily rate, for the whole group
1 to 4 people
- Outside school holidays €600 / day
- School holidays €650 / day
5 to 6 people
- Outside school holidays €700 / day
- School holidays €750 / day
Each rate covers a full day with your own instructor, for the whole group; the same prices apply to our ski lessons in Val d'Isère and to our private ski lessons in Val d'Isère.
What your day includes
- Guiding by a qualified ski instructor specialising in off-piste.
- The full safety kit, provided and checked before you set off: avalanche airbag pack, transceiver, shovel and probe.
- The daily read of the avalanche bulletin and the choice of terrain to suit the day's conditions.
Extras, for you to arrange
- Lift passes: see the ski pass section of the Val d'Isère tourist office website.
- Ski equipment (skis, boots, poles).
- Transfers to the start points of our off-piste day trips in the Tarentaise.
- Meals during the day.
- Insurance. Good cover for mountain rescue and off-piste skiing is well worth it for peace of mind; the price depends on the cover you choose, so it pays to compare policies. We explain what to check in our article on avalanche risk and off-piste safety.
Add a heliski day or a helicopter transfer
Heliski and helicopter transfers answer to their own logistics and their own rules, on the French side as on the Italian. We quote them separately, based on the number of skiers, the rotations and the base of operation. Tell us about your plan on the heliski page or simply by phone.
Ski full days, or the whole week
We guide by the full day, one day, several in a row, or the whole week, at the same daily rate throughout. We keep to full days because the best snow keeps its own timetable: a whole day lets us wait for a slope to soften, cross the valley to where the wind has left the powder, and still be down in good time. For two or three days in a row, see our off-piste ski weekend page.
Everything that comes with your day
At our Val d'Isère ski school you ski in a small group of up to six, with an instructor who knows your skiing by the end of the first morning. The safety kit is provided and checked, and a professional reads the mountain on your behalf. Each day is cut to your level, the snow and what you hope to ski. That is what your daily rate pays for: serious off-piste guiding, at a fair price.
A word from the founder
Our prices include guiding and safety kit.
Boris Malesset, founder of PowderWeGo, off-piste ski professional since 2001
Safety is part of what you pay for. Before every outing we fit the avalanche airbag packs, check each transceiver, and go over the shovels and probes. We follow the snowpack and the weather daily and read the avalanche bulletin every morning; when conditions call for it, we turn back or choose other terrain.
FAQ
Is the price per person or per group?
By group and by day. The €600/day rate covers 1 to 4 people outside school holidays: alone or four of you, the figure is the same. Above four skiers, you move to the 5-to-6-people band.
What's included in the price?
Guiding by a qualified off-piste ski instructor and the full safety kit: avalanche airbag pack, transceiver, shovel and probe, provided and checked. Lift passes, ski equipment, transfers, meals and insurance are yours to arrange.
Do you need special insurance for off-piste?
Yes. Check that your policy covers mountain rescue and off-piste skiing. The price depends on the cover you choose, so it pays to compare policies. We spell out what to look at in our article on off-piste safety.
How much is a day's heliski?
Heliski and helicopter transfers are quoted on request: the price depends on the number of skiers, the rotations and the base you fly from. Get in touch from the heliski page for a precise figure.
Do you offer half-days?
No, we work by the full day or the week, at the same daily rate, because a full day gives us time to go looking for the best snow: we switch aspects once the sun has come round, wait for a slope to come good, and are still out there to enjoy it when it does.
Send us your dates and your level, and we'll send a quote within 24 hours and take care of the rest.
